What SLA is

Resin, a UV laser and a layer-free surface

SLA (stereolithography) cures liquid resin with a UV laser, layer by layer. Layers are 0.025 to 0.100 mm thick, so edges stay crisp, small details stay legible, and the finished surface is smooth with practically no visible layer lines.

That is the gap FDM cannot close: half-millimetre lettering, thin walls, fine textures and organic shapes come out the way they were modelled. After printing, each part is washed, dried and post-cured under UV light, then the supports come off and the part is ready for painting or assembly.

Resins

Six Formlabs resins in stock

Every resin is genuine Formlabs, in three categories: standard resins for looks and detail, engineering resins for toughness and stiffness. Each one's price shows in the calculator as you select it.

Grey Resin V5

Standard

Neutral grey with excellent detail contrast. The default choice for concept models, miniatures and anything that gets photographed.

Black Resin V5

Standard

Deep black for presentation parts, masks and models where no layer sheen should show.

White Resin V5

Standard

Bright white for presentation prototypes and models ready to be painted.

Clear Resin V5

Standard

Translucent resin for optically clear parts, covers and light guides. Polishing improves clarity further.

Tough 2000 V2

Tough & Durable

ABS-like strength and toughness. For functional prototypes, snap joints and parts that get assembled and taken apart.

Rigid 10K

Stiff & Strong

Glass-filled, extremely stiff and dimensionally stable. For precise engineering parts that must not flex under load.

Miniatures and figures

Faces, weapons, fabric folds and tiny ornaments stay legible at a 0.025 mm layer, with no sanding or filling.

How much does SLA 3D printing cost?

SLA printing starts at roughly 15 EUR, because the resin and the finishing process cost more than FDM. You get the exact price for your model straight away in the calculator, VAT and shipping included.

How is SLA different from FDM?

FDM melts a plastic filament and builds the part in layers of 0.08 mm and up, so layer lines are visible and can be felt. SLA cures resin in 0.025 mm layers, the surface is smooth and small details stay sharp. FDM is cheaper and more practical for large functional parts, SLA wins whenever detail and appearance matter.

Is there a minimum order?

No. We print a single part, with no setup fee and no minimum quantity.

What is the largest SLA part you can print?

The Form 4 takes parts up to 200 × 210 × 125 mm and the Form 3L up to 335 × 300 × 200 mm. Larger models are split into parts and bonded after printing.

Are SLA parts brittle?

Standard resins are stiffer and more brittle than FDM plastics, so for parts that take impact or bending we go with Tough 2000 V2, and for stiffness with dimensional stability, Rigid 10K.
