A lithophane is a photo printed as relief. Bright parts of the image print thin and let more light through, dark parts print thick and hold it back, so the picture stays almost invisible until you light it from behind. This generator does the whole conversion in your browser: upload a photo, choose the size and direction, adjust exposure, contrast, highlights and shadows, and switch the backlight on in the 3D preview to see exactly how it will glow.
When you order, we print the panel in white PLA at 0.12 mm layers, standing upright so every layer carries detail. Take it framed and it arrives seated in a shadow-box frame with a kickstand, in the material and color you picked, ready to stand on a shelf; the Bambu Lab LED panels that light it from inside the frame are a separate add-on. Take the panel on its own and any window, lamp or LED strip behind it will do. It is 3D printed in Čakovec and delivered across Croatia.

We turn your adjusted image into a relief between 1.0 and 3.2 mm thick and print it standing on Bambu Lab FDM printers with a 0.4 mm nozzle, in white PLA at 0.12 mm layers.
The panel drops into a shadow-box frame with a kickstand, printed in the material and color you chose. Everything ships from Čakovec to any address or parcel locker in Croatia.
A lithophane is an image carved into a thin translucent panel. Bright parts of the photo are thin and let more light through, dark parts are thick and block it, so the picture is barely there in normal light and appears in full detail the moment it is lit from behind. Ours are 3D printed in white PLA instead of the porcelain used two centuries ago.
Photos with one clear subject and good contrast: portraits, pets, a single building, a silhouette. Faces look superb. Very dark, very busy or low-resolution photos lose detail, because the whole image has to fit into roughly 2 mm of relief. Aim for at least 1000 px on the short side and crop tightly around the subject.
That depends on which of the two you order. The framed lithophane is a closed shadow box: the light comes from the Bambu Lab LED panels that mount inside the frame, and they are a separate add-on rather than part of it. Without them a closed frame does not glow on its own, though the panel slides out through the slot along the frame's top edge, so you can hold it up to a window or a lamp. Order the panel on its own and any light behind it works: a window, a lamp, an LED strip, even a phone flashlight. Use the backlight switch in the 3D preview to compare the lit and unlit look before you order.
You choose the material and color of the frame from current stock. The lithophane panel itself always prints in white so light passes through the photo evenly; a colored panel would tint the image and dim it.
Lithophanes print slowly because of the fine 0.12 mm layers, so allow a few days of production plus delivery time. You pay online and we email you at every step, including the tracking link once your order leaves Čakovec.
Your photo is uploaded over an encrypted connection and used only to prepare your print file and produce your order. We do not publish it or share it with anyone else.
